Badrinath Temple, Uttarakhand

Badrinath is a village and temple in the Uttarakhand state, northern India. Located on the banks of the main river Ganges, this shrine is located in the Himalayas at an altitude of 3,050 meters above sea level.


It is located on the left bank of the Alaknanda River between two mountain ranges called Nar and Narayan. Badrinath was named after Badri, a wild berry found in abundance here. It is one of the four major shrines in India."

Importance

Badrinath is considered to be the main pilgrimage of the Hindus on the north-east Himalayas. Nar-Narayana Deity is worshiped in the temple and the Akhand lamp burns, which is a symbol of immovable enlightenment.


Badrinath is the main pilgrimage place in the Chardham of India. Every Hindu wishes to see Badrinath once. Bathing in Alaknanda is extremely difficult due to the cold water but people take bath in Taptkund.

Prasad of Vana tulsi garland, raw Kal dal, kernel ball, and sugar candy, etc. are offered.
