Jammu and Kashmir is an Indian state, located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent near the western mountain ranges. Earlier it was one of the major princely states of India.
The Autonomous Region and Tibetan autonomous region of Sinkiang in Eastern (both China and part of), South Himachal Pradesh and Punjab states, West Pakistan, and northwestern Pakistan is surrounded by the authorized territory. The states of Jammu and Kashmir lie between 32–15 and 37–05 northern latitudes and 72–35 and 83–20 east longitudes. Geographically, this state can be divided into four regions.
