Dal Lake is beautiful blame surrounded by hills from three directions is the second largest lake in Jammu and Kashmir.


Dal Lake is five miles long and two and a half miles wide is one of the most beautiful lakes not only of Srinagar but of the whole of India.


Water comes from the fountains in Dal Lake, as well as many lakes of Kashmir valley come and join it. The four reservoirs of the lake are Gagaribal, Lokut Dal, Bod Dal and Nagin.


Apart from this, Roop Lank Island is situated in the middle of Lokuta Dal and in the middle of the Bod Dal river is located Gold Lunk which further enhances the beauty of this lake.


The flora further enhances the beauty of Dal Lake. The lotus flower, the water flowing in Kumudni, add to the beauty of the lake.

The shape of Dal Lake emerges from the beautiful and famous flower garden of the Mughals near Dal Lake. The famous University of Kashmir is situated on the banks of the lake.


Through Shikara one can see Nehru Park, Kanutur Khana, Charchinari, some islands which are situated here. It is incomplete for devotees to visit the Hazratbal shrine without visiting it.


Devotees can visit this shrine through shikra. The lake is known worldwide especially for hunting or houseboats. The natural beauty around Dal Lake attracts a large number of people.

It takes ten to twelve hours to travel in these mountainous areas. During this journey, tourists can see the famous Jawahar Tunnel here.
