World Food Day | 16th October

World Food Day is celebrated every year on October 16th. It has been a long time celebrating this day, but the number of hungry stomachs has not decreased worldwide. This number is increasing rapidly.

Even today many people in the world are struggling with hunger. In this case, there is no difference in developing or developed countries.


The world's population is estimated to be nine billion by the year 2050 and around 80 per cent of its people will live in developing countries. In such a way how to ensure food security, this is a big question.


On one side in the world, some people waste food and throw in their homes. On the other hand, there is also no shortage of people who cannot get even one meal. Given this problem of food grains, it was announced to celebrate 'World Food Day' every year on 16 October.

World Food Day celebrated on 16th October every year. This day inspires people in the world to understand the importance of food grains and prevent wastage.


The date: 16 October 1980

Objective: The main objective of this day is to increase technical and financial cooperation among developing countries to increase food production and to provide modern technical help from developed countries.

Other information: According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, there has been a huge increase of 140 per cent in the prices of food grains compared to 2002. Because of this, 40 countries are facing food crisis since December 2007


Beginning


For the balanced development of world society, it is necessary that all-round development of man. People in the world get such quantity of balanced food that they can get out of the purview of malnutrition and lead a healthy life.



For people to have a balanced diet, there must be sufficient production of food grains in the world. The need to increase food production was felt day by day because of the increasing population of the world and the limited stock of food items.


With this in mind, the United Nations established "Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome" (FAO). To spread awareness and eradicate hunger in the world, 'World Food Day' was started in 1980 on the 16 October.
