Great Himalayan National Park became the World Heritage site on Jun 23, 20l4. The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) accorded this status to the National Park in the 38th session held in Doha.
World Heritage Site
The Great Himalayan National Park received World Heritage status in 2014.
The National Park of Kullu district has been registered by the UNESCO World Heritage Team. At the UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Association) team meeting in Doha, Qatar on June 15-25, 32 proposals were discussed.
It has become the second heritage after Kalka-Shimla railway line, which has got this status in Himachal.
In March 2012, UNESCO nominated the Great Himalayan National Park. After this, the concerned team arrived for a tour of Himachal Pradesh under the leadership of Dr Bobby and asked to submit a fresh report in many cases.
On every aspect sought on 22 November 2013, the state government prepared a proposal to declare it a World Heritage. In the meeting held in Doha, the Chief of Forest Department, Aranyapal RK Gupta, gave a presentation.
